I'm baaaack....

Hello blog, I am your mother. I have forsaken you and I offer my sincerest apologies. There's no use looking in the rearview mirror... let's just focus on what's ahead.
DISNEYLAND!!!
For the past two months Matt and I have been planning on spending this weekend in Oceanside, CA - 1) to film a mud run that several co-workers are running and 2) to see some friends who recently moved there. This plan was quickly demolished when we received an email on Wednesday from a friend (who is a new ABC employee) inviting us to Disneyland on Saturday... for FREE. Plus 30% off all food and souvenirs. (Mickey ears anyone?) This is a big deal people. One-day passes START at $75 and there are no hidden discounts out there. We've been to both Disneyland parks once and have wanted to go back... and going for free is a beautiful way to return.
The next few weeks are also looking very promising. Next week Will and his roommate are returning for their 2nd annual trip to see us and I'm taking my first vacation days since my promotion in January. The following week is short, because a) I'm taking Monday off for Will and 2) half-day on Friday for July 4th weekend. Then the week after THAT is also short... another Monday off completing the July 4th weekend. And THEN at the end of July... I am going hoooooooooooome!!! I cannot WAIT!! Doing a little tour of Texas... starting in Austin, a short appearance in Temple, a few days in Abilene, then ending in Dallas. I haven't been home since the holidays (which in many ways seems like yesterday) and I'm not sure the next time I'll be there. So I will be soaking up every moment with Mama and Papa Riggs and looking forward to hugging many necks.
Anyone else looking forward to seeing Eat, Pray, Love? I just started reading the book and then have recently become obsessed with this song - Dog Days Are Over - when I heard it played in the background of the movie trailer. So I decided to share it with my loverly blog readers, so that you too may discover the joys of this fun song-- the best way to listen is to open your windows, turn up your speakers and dance around. However the best way to watch the music video to this song is with your eyes. wide. SHUT. Turns out Florence + The Machine are kinda weird and this video might give you nightmares. So lean back, hit play, close your eyes, and let the music take you away...

Film: Flying Dog

As I enjoyed my last day of unemployment I decided to shoot one last little film. This was a fun test to see how 60fps would look after it has slowed to 50% and conformed to a 23.98 timeline. Barkley flying through the air is fun to watch in slow motion. I hope you enjoy it as much as the Barkster and I had filming it.

Another Great Commercial: AT&T President Rewind

I love it when a commercial is so well made that I look forward to seeing it again. This AT&T commercial is a great example, in my opinion, of a simple story told in mere seconds. Its sweet and fun to watch and this is what more commercials should be about. I know advertising the product is the ultimate goal but if you wrap it up in a fun and interesting container you make the audience want to see the ad again and again.

This commercial also reminded me of a great short film shot by the famous Shane Hurlbut using only the Canon 5D Mark II! A great short film.

Baby Lyla's First Step!!

I was over at Doug & Brynn's the other day shooting some pick up shots of Doug for his music video when Baby Lyla decided to start walking. I was lucky enough to have my camera prepped and ready when she took her first step.
I was so lucky and blessed to have shared this special event with Doug and Brynn and to have shot it in beautiful HD! haha.
If you have the internet speed make sure to choose 720p and fill screen!

Grand Vanity's "Got a Nerve"

Katie and I have made some great friendships here in LA and so many of them have such wonderful gifts and talents. The Jongs, for example, have their own band called Grand Vanity and Katie and I love to see them play. They are both very talented and are so funny. Not only is Greg British and Dani a SoCal girl but they both look like they belong in 1970 something... The love the vintage and live it throughout each part of their lives.
Anyways... Here is their first music video created by Luke Asa. It rocks! Enjoy:
